With the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, the education field has begun to explore the potential of its application, especially in language teaching. Mixed reality (MR) technology, as an innovative teaching tool, provides a more immersive and interactive learning experience through the combination of virtual and real worlds. To evaluate the effectiveness of AI-driven mixed reality technology in English language learning, especially its ability to improve students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing. To this end, this paper designed an empirical study to analyze the effectiveness of AI-driven mixed reality technology in enhancing students' learning effectiveness by comparing the English performance of two groups of students before and after the instruction. METHODS: The study used SPSS software to analyze the data, and descriptive statistical analysis was first conducted to understand the basic situation of the two groups of students in terms of their learning achievements. Then, an independent samples t-test was used to compare the performance of the two groups of students to further analyze whether the differences were statistically significant. In addition, regression analysis was utilized to explore the extent of the impact of mixed reality technology on students' English learning effectiveness. Students in the experimental group using AI-driven mixed reality technology achieved significantly higher scores in listening, speaking, and reading than the control group, and the F value was 42.36, with a p-value of less than 0.001, indicating that the differences between different teaching methods were significant. The results of regression analysis also indicate that AI-driven mixed reality technology has a significant positive shadow on students' English learning effectiveness. AI-driven mixed reality technology provides an effective and innovative way for university English teaching, which can significantly improve students' language learning outcomes. Future research can further explore how to optimize the application of this technology in different disciplines and different learning scenarios, to achieve the organic integration of educational technology and traditional teaching methods, and to promote educational innovation and change.
